Andrew Pearson, R.I.(BC), founder of Aviawest, developer for Parkside project in Victoria targeting for LEED Platinum certification will speak on developer's perspective for sustianable development at the Greennx 2008 Green Building Conference on May 15 at UBC.
Andrew has resided on Vancouver Island most of his life and has developed projects of all types since 1964 but specializing in resort condominiums since 1986. He has been a Member of the Real Estate Institute of BC since 1969.
In 1991, the Pearsons commenced the first timeshare/fractional project on ‘The Island’ – Pacific Shores Resort & Spa - and have developed multiple projects since. In 2002, Andrew and his family initiated Aviawest Resort Club, which now serves over 7,000 families.
Always interested in nature and conservation, Andrew introduced many Green features to Pacific Shores before ‘green’ became fashionable. Now, the Aviawest Group is a Member of CaGBC and is spearheading development of the Parkside, Victoria Resort & Spa a 126 suite project with ancillary commercial uses in downtown Victoria. Their goal is to construct to a LEED ™ Platinum standard and become the first hotel or resort in the world to attain that level.
At the Greennx 2008 Green Building Conference on May 15, Andrew will present a brief case study of the Parkside project and make a few observations about the innate sustainability of timeshare or fractional resort use. |
