Dr. Guido Wimmers, Dipl. Ing. Dr. tech., Architect of Equilibrium Consulting will speak about Passive House, the European standard for net-zero energy house at the Greennx 2008 Green Building Conference on May 15 at UBC.
Dr. Guido Wimmers' biography is as follows:
Education: 2007 Ph.D., Architecture, University of Innsbruck
Dissertation: “Implementation of energy saving technologies at the renovation of old buildings with a historical value” at the faculty of building materials and building physics at the University of Innsbruck. 1995-1999 Graduate Engineering (“Diplom- Ingenieur”) Architecture, University of Innsbruck Concentrations: low energy housing and energy concepts for passive houses
Grants and Fellowships: 1998 Participant of the “Partner Exchange Program” between the U.N.O. (University of New Orleans) and the University of Innsbruck, several certificates in economy, political science and history 1993-1994 Freelance in architecture firm, Zwiesigk, Berlin
Professional Experience:
2001-2007 consultant at “Energie Tirol” (consulting and research department for energy efficiency in the state of Tyrol); main activity includes: Development, implementation and management of wide spreading energy quality assurance program; supervision of building sites and development of low energy and passive house concepts
2002-2007 architect company melis+melis+wimmers: Creation, design and build low energy and passive houses, energy concepts for passive houses in Austria, Germany and Italy
Since September 2007 with Equilibrium consulting, Vancouver, implementing passive house technology in Canada

2002 – 2007 presenter and lecturer of over 80 lectures and speeches at national and international conventions concerning the issue of low energy and passive housing.
