Marty Donkervoort, MBA, President and CEO, Inner City Development Inc., Winnipeg will speak about his successful experience as a builder and social entrepreneur in sustainable building projects providing employmnet to inner-city low-income residents resulting in Social Return on Investment. Marty is a long-time social justice activist. He has been active in community economic development for nearly three decades, working out of Toronto and Winnipeg. Samples of his work experience include publishing the magazine Worker Co-ops: The Voice of Economic Democracy in Canada, owning a management consulting business (where he started up many successful social enterprises), and being a senior policy advisor in Ontario’s NDP government. He was a founding member of both the Worker Ownership Development Foundation and Co-op Work. In 2002, Marty established Inner City Renovation Inc., a social enterprise committed to providing quality jobs for low-income inner city residents.
Born in Rotterdam, Marty holds a B.Sc. in Forestry (Timber Engineering) and an MBA from York University. He currently works as General Manager of Community Ownership Solutions, a Winnipeg-based charity, and is President and CEO of Inner City Development Inc. |
