Maureen Connelly, B.Sc., B.E.D.S., M.Arch., MAIBC, Research Program Head, Centre for the Advancement of Green Roof Technology, British Columbia Institute of Technology, will speak about Green Roof and Green Wall at the Greennx 2008 Green Building Conference on May 15 at UBC.
Combining a science background with a professional affiliation as an architect, Maureen Connelly developed the vision, oversaw the design, construction and instrumentation of BC’s first dedicated green roof research facility, and continues to provide the strategic direction at the Centre for the Advancement of Green Roof Technology. Maureen’s initial research focused on the performance of extensive green roofs for stormwater source control and she led the first research determining the thermal performance of green roofs systems in the Lower Mainland of B.C. Maureen’s current research focus is on the acoustical capacity of green roofs to reduce sound transmission into buildings and reduce noise build up in urban areas. Maureen received the BCIT Earth Apple award for outstanding effort and commitment to our environment and the BCIT Applied Research Award for outstanding contribution in terms of advancement of knowledge, advancement of economic and societal well-being, through the application and implementation of new technology. |
