Nellie Cheng, Secretary of the World Green Building Council, will be the moderator of the discussion sessions on sustainability and innovative design at the Greennx Film Festival which is a special event featuring inspirational films on sustainability and innovative design.

There will be a discussion on sustainability and innovative design after each screening session.

In her role as Secretary, World Green Building Council, Nellie Cheng has been working with Green Building Councils in different countries to grow the Green Building industry and promote market transformation of Green industry.  She has played a pivotal role in working with groups in China to form China Green Building Council. 

Nellie Cheng works at Vancouver Economic Development Commission as Director, Business Development.  Vancouver Economic Development Commission is the key point of contact for business expansion and investment in Vancouver.  Working closely with the business community, all levels of government and other stakeholders, VEDC’s mandate is to provide leadership in the definition and realization of Vancouver’s economic potential, and to provide core services that promote economic development and job creation for Vancouver. 

Before VEDC, Nellie Cheng was Project Manager, 2010 Winter Olympics at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, responsible for coordinating CMHC’s Sustainable and Green Building initiatives related to 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.  Previously, Nellie Cheng worked as Senior Trade Consultant at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, promoting Canadian Healthy Housing and Sustainable Communities in the China market.  Working with Chinese developers, her team has implemented Canadian Super E Healthy Housing and Canadian Sustainable Community projects in Shanghai and Beijing.  Nellie Cheng has been frequently invited to present Canadian expertise in these areas at conferences and workshops in many Chinese cities.   

Nellie Cheng has 20 years of experience in trade and investment promotion, and worked for B.C. Trade Development Corporation and Washington State Community, Trade and Economic Development. 

Nellie Cheng obtained her diploma in Executive Management from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, a Master Degree in Communication Studies from Concordia University in Montreal, and a B.A. in English from Henan University in China.
