PEITSA HIRVONEN, founder of SESCO Electrical, Inc., U.S. Green Wiring expert, past Chair of Green Building Committee of local chapter of National Association of Remodeling Industry will speak about Green Wiring and Healthy Building at the Greennx 2008 Green Building Conference on May 15 at UBC.
Peitsa was born and raised in Finland. His parents immigrated to the United States when he was 14. He has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since the sixties. He received a degree in Expressive Arts with and emphasis on psychology and music from Sonoma State University. He also attended University of California at Davis and it was at these two schools where he got his initiation into environmentalism and woke up to the realization of the fragility of the systems on this planet.
He has worked in construction since 1973, and have been wiring houses since 1986. He started SESCO in 1992 and became a Certified Green Building Professional in 2004. He has served as the Green Building Committee Chair on the board of the local NARI chapter (National Association of Remodeling Industry). He has presented to the local contractor groups in the Bay Area on greening electrical, and has written article for the Journal of Light Construction He also teaches a basic electrical safety and Code class at the local Building Education Center in Berkeley.
SESCO provides electrical and solar installation services to the green builders in our area, and theitr projects had been featured on the Green Homes Tours. "And even when the projects aren't that green, we do what we can within the budget to make them so." - Peitsa Hirvonen. |
